Godello grape is one of the high quality white stocks
of wine originals from Galicia as are Albariño, Torrontés
and Treixadura stock wines. The white stocks of Godello from
Galicia became wines with a very remarkable aroma, great palate,
well balanced and characterizes for a swift flowers and very
delicate scent and with a graceful, elegant and with a good
aftertaste and length, crisp and seductive.
After the philoxera crisis, more than 70 years
ago, the wine yards and cellars are in the process directed
to recover the old Galician’s grape varieties.
Today, thanks to the efforts to cultivate again
the high quality old traditional varieties, the Godello grape
is extending it influence from The Valley of Monterrey near
Verín in the south of Galicia, to the south of Betanzos
of the Knights, in the north. From the El Rosal in the southwest
to the east of the province of Ourense, in the land of Valdeorras,
were reach the biggest area cultivated with this traditional
variety.
The privileged valley of Valedorras crossed
by the river Sil and natural way into Galicia have the best
climate conditions to cultivate the Godello grape. The stock
has not a predilection for any land but gives the best of itself
in the soils dries faces to the south.
The Godello grape became a wine with a good
alcoholic strength, between 11º to 13º and in the
best sunny areas must to reach the 14º. Well balanced from
5, 5 to 7, 5 with good climate conditions. The land, the mountains,
the deep valley and the Atlantic Ocean characterize this dense,
delicate and attractive wine.
The Godello wine goes very well with the starters,
fish and seafood in all time and everywhere.
